Grags ARE proven over time, that means something. The RVM pipes are much MUCH cheaper, that also means something. This just comes down to what you want to pay for in th long run. The arguement of the size is a whole other thread, some say it is enough, other argue for more air flow. Wih stock turbos, 2.25 seems to be enough. If ungrading turbos, it may be smart to go with more flow, thats simple enough to understand. I personally dont think the RVM will just break easily. DO I trust the many engineers here who say these welds weaken the pipes, yes. SO if we were to compare both sets of pipes over 3-4 years of use, I would guess that the RVM pipes would begin to have problems earlier. But guess what, in 3 years, if you still have your Z, you probably want to redo alot of things anyway, so for the price, it may be worth it. I mean RVM pipes, down/test pipes, are less expensive than just GD downpipes, to some that is extremely important. Its all a matter of what fits for you personally. Did Greg's design get stolen, sure it did. But that is what happens in business if you aren't able to protect your investment. Someone comes along, cuts a few corners and makes the product for much cheaper, its the American way of business! It isn;t some dirty trick, its just the way it is. Not saying I would be pissed if I were Greg, just saying if you arent Greg, then CHILL.
Drive a TT and you'll realize that turbo should be a standard option on all cars!!! |
